Students walking on the quad in spring

Being here is the best way to get a feel for UNC Asheville. So we encourage you to visit our campus as many times as you can. Come for an informal group tour, a campus-wide event or a personal chat with an Admissions staff member or faculty. The more you see us in action, the easier your decision will be. Let us know if we can be of any assistance in planning your campus visit.

Because space is limited, we ask that you please register for your tour ahead of time.

A few notes regarding tour cancellations:

Tours will only be canceled if the University cancels classes. In the event that happens, we will post a message on the main Admissions web page, as well as this page. Even if tours are not canceled, there are times when weather may be a factor. Please be sure to check the Asheville weather forecast, and dress accordingly.

Daily Tours

An opportunity to see the campus of UNC Asheville through the eyes of a current student. The tour route consists of academic buildings, Ramsey Library, Health and Fitness Center, Highsmith Student Union, Dining Hall and a residence hall and room. Your visit will consist of a walking tour of campus followed by an information session, and will last approximately two hours.

Fall 2016

Beginning on Monday, August 22, campus tours and information sessions will take place at 10:30 AM on Mondays and Wednesdays and 2:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  On Fridays, both times will be offered.  The final day for fall tours will be Monday, December 5.  The tour and info session together last approximately two hours.  Check in will take place at the Admissions Office on the second floor of Brown Hall.  Please note that tours will leave at the designated time, so please allow yourself enough time to travel to campus.

In addition, special Transfer Student information sessions will be held in conjunction with the Friday afternoon tour time from September 2 through December 2 (with the exception of 10/28, 11/04, and 11/25).  This is for Transfer Students to receive specialized information on Admissions that would be different than Freshmen Admissions.  In order to register for one of those, please click here, and be sure to look for the Transfer Student session when searching for events.

We will not be holding tours on the following dates:

  • Monday, September 5 (Labor Day)
  • Thursday, September 22 (On Campus Event)
  • Monday, October 10 - Tuesday, October 11 (Fall Break)
  • Wednesday, November 23 - Friday, November 25 (Thanksgiving Holiday)

Saturday Tours

Understanding that it's often difficult to schedule a campus visit during the week, UNC Asheville's admissions office is open for tours and information sessions on select Saturdays of each month. Spend the weekend in Asheville and visit our lovely campus. Your visit will consist of an information session, followed by a walking tour of campus and will last approximately two hours.  Please note that tours will leave at the designated time, so please allow yourself enough time to travel to campus.

Summer 2016

We will not be offering any Saturday tours during the Summer Semester.  Monthly Saturday tours will begin again in the Fall Semester.

  • September 3, 2016

Group Tours

Group tours are held Monday through Friday, and they are based on the availability of our University Ambassadors.  They allow large groups of students of all ages (typically 10 or more) to see the beautiful UNC Asheville campus. Group tours are a great way to encourage students to seek out learning and higher level education.  Please plan on at least 2 hours for both the information session and the tour.

Please keep in mind that this is for large groups. If you are only bringing one student or one family, please see Daily Tours.

Group tours fill up quickly during the school year, so it is important that you schedule as early as possible.

Middle school groups - For a more in depth experience, please consider taking part in UNC Asheville's Junior Bulldog Program, offered through the Office for School and Community Outreach Programs and Partnerships.  Priority is given to federal GEAR UP grant partnership schools, as well as local schools. This popular program tends to fill up a year in advance, so please book early.

Fall 2016

Fall group tours will run Monday through Friday (with the exceptions noted below) beginning Monday, August 29 and running through Monday, December 5.

  • Monday, September 5 (Labor Day)
  • Thursday, September 22 (On Campus Event)
  • Monday, October 10 - Tuesday, October 11 (Fall Break)
  • Wednesday, November 23 - Friday, November 25 (Thanksgiving Holiday)

NOTE - Please allow at least 2 weeks notice to plan your group tour, and if you must make any changes, please notify us as soon as possible.  In addition, if you have a group larger than 50, the best days and times will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at Noon, as that is during the University's free period, so there will be the maximum number of Student Ambassadors available for the tour.

Due to major renovation/construction projects on campus, meeting space will be limited beginning in Spring 2017.  Because of this, group tours may be constrained to certain days and times until construction is completed.  We thank you for your patience.
